Statement of Faith
The text in this Article applies to: I.) the members of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Corporation, II.) the full time and summer staff serving at SJBC and III.) to the representatives of Supporting individuals and organizations. Individuals in these groups are called "we" in the following Sections of this Article.

Section 1:
We believe the Scriptures, both old and new testaments, to be the verbal plenary word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. When properly interpreted and illuminated by the Holy Spirit, it becomes the only foundation for ascertaining the purposes of God and comprehending the created universe in which we live (Mat. 19:4-5, Mark 12:26,36, Rom 15:4, 1Cor 2:13, 10:11, 14:37, 2Tim 3:15-17, 2Pet 1:21, 3:2, 15-16, John 17:17, 1Cor 2:7-15).

Section 2:
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Mt. 28:18-19, Mk. 12:29, John. 1:1,2,14, 4:24, 10:30, Act. 5:3-4, II Cor. 13:14, Hebrews 1:1-3, Rev 1:4-6).

Section 3:
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of the majesty on high as our High Priest and advocate. (Luke 1:30-35 John 1:1, 18, 3:16, II Cor 5:21, Phil 2:5-8, Hebrews 4:15, Romans 5:6-8, Gal 3:13, I Tim 2:5, Hebrews 7:25, I John 2:1).

Section 4:
We believe that the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. (John 3:6, 16:7-11, Romans 8:9, I Cor 12:13, Eph 4:30, 5:18, II Thess 2:7, I John 2:20-27, I Cor 2: 10-11, II Cor 6:14-18.)

Section 5:
We believe that man was created in the image of God, sinned by choice, which resulted in spiritual death, that the sin of Adam is imputed to all men, Jesus Christ excepted, that man is totally depraved and incapable of attaining eternal life apart from faith in the completed work of Christ, and without such faith is eternally condemned to a state of conscious punishment. (Gen. 1:26, 2:17, 6:5, Ps 14:1-3, 51:5, Jer 17:9, John 3:6, 5:40, 6:53, Romans 3:10-19, 8:6-7, Eph 2:1-3, I Tim 5:6, I John 3:8, Romans 5:12-14.)

Section 6:
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for salvation and justification for all who believe and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become eternally the children of God, and may have full assurance of their salvation. (Lev 17:11, Isa 64:6, Mt 26:28, John 1:29, 3:5,18, Romans 3:25-26, 5:6-9, II Cor 5:14,21, Gal 3:13, 6:15, Eph 1:7, Phil 3:4-9, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 10:5-14, James 1:18, I Pet1:18,19,23).

Section 7:
We believe in the personal imminent return of Christ for His Church and the physical resurrection of the saved and unsaved. (John 14:3, I Cor 15:51-52, Phil 3:20-21, I Thess 4:13-18, Titus 2:11-14).

Section 8:
We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Therefore, one’s divinely determined biological sex should not be rejected. Consequently, we affirm each person’s biological birth sex. (Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

Section 9:
We believe marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, intrinsically ordered to procreation and biological family, and in furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good of binding father, mother, and child. (Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-9, Mark 10:5-9, Ephesians 5:31-33).

Section 10:
We believe that sexual intimacy should occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). Any form of sexual activity outside of marriage is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9- 10, 1Thessalonians 4:3-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:7, Colossians 3:5).

Section 11:
We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and should seek redemption through confession, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture or the doctrines of the church. We teach that the faithful proclamation of the Scripture, including the call to repentance for all sin, does not constitute hate speech, or hateful or harassing behavior, but is instead a fundamental part of the church's loving mission to the world (Romans 3:23, Matthew 28:16-20; 2 Corinthians 5:11-20; 1 Timothy 1:5; 2 Timothy 4:1-2).

We believe that God offers redemption and forgiveness to all who confess and forsake their sin seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that His forgiveness is total and complete (Psalm 103:11-12,4; Isaiah 43:25, 44:22; John 5:24; Colossians 2:13-14) and that God imputes the full righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21) to the believing sinner.
We believe that the forgiven sinner has been cleansed from the guilt of sin, set apart unto God, or made holy, and justified before Him (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). We believe that any man or woman who has received that forgiveness is "in Christ" and is a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Section 12:
This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. We believe the Bible itself, is the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of San Juan Bible Camp, of religious organizations, and of humanity itself; and is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
