Doctrinal Statement:

The text in this Article applies to: I.) the members of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Corporation, II.) the full time and summer staff serving at SJBC and III.) to the representatives of Supporting individuals and organizations. Individuals in these groups are called "we" in the following Sections of this Article.

Section I:
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the verbal plenary word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (Matthew 19:4-5, Mark 12:26 & 36, Romans 15:4, I Corinthians 2:13, 10:11, 14:37, II Timothy 3:15-17, II Peter 1:21, 3:2 & 15-16)

Section II:
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-19, Mark 12:29, John 1:1-2 & 14, 4:24, 10:30, Acts 5:3-4, II Corinthians 13:14, Hebrews 1:1-3, Revelation 1:4-6)

Section III:
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our High Priest and Advocate. (Luke 1:30-35, John 1:1 & 18, 3:16, Romans 5:6-8, II Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 3:13, Philippians 2:5-8, Hebrews 4:15, I Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 7:25, I John 2:1)

Section IV:
We believe that the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for Godly living and service. (John 3:6, 16:7-11, Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 2:10-11, 12:13, II Corinthians 6:14-18, Ephesians 4:30, 5:18, II Thessalonians 2:7, I John 2:20-27

Section V:
We believe that man was created in the image of God, sinned by choice, which resulted in spiritual death, that the sin of Adam is imputed to all men, Jesus Christ excepted, that man is totally depraved and incapable of attaining eternal life apart from faith in the completed work of Christ, and without such faith shall be eternally condemned to state of conscious punishment. (Genesis 1:26, 2:17, 6:5, Psalms 14:1-3, 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9, John 3:6, 5:40, 6:53, Romans 3:10-19, 5:12-14, 8:6-7, Ephesians 2:1-3, I Timothy 5:6, I John 3:8)

Section VI:
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for salvation and justification for all who believe and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become eternally the children of God, and may have full assurance of their salvation. (Leviticus 17:11, Isaiah 64:6, Matthew 26:28, John 1:29, 3:5 & 18, Romans 3:25-26, 5:6-9, II Corinthians 5:14 & 21, Galatians 3:13, 6:15, Ephesians 1:7, Philippians 3:4-9, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 10:5-14, James 1:18, I Peter 1:18-19 & 23)

Section VII:
We believe in the personal imminent return of Christ for His Church and the physical resurrection of the saved and unsaved. (John 14:3, I Corinthians 15:51-52, Philippians 3:20-21, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Titus 2:11-14)
